Rich History
Wayne County has many historical sites that can be enjoyed from the Civil War Driving Trail, with trail markers providing information. More recent historical sites include the former home of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist T.S. Stribling, which is now a museum. Some historic homes are now bed and breakfast inns.
Beautiful Landscape
The Buffalo River runs through the northern part of Wayne County. The river is famous for canoeing, with the water speed ranging from moderate rapids to lazy currents. For anglers, the river is full of smallmouth bass, rock bass, and catfish. Crazy Horse Canoe, a campground along the Buffalo River, is one of Wayne County's largest tourism spots.
Outdoor Recreation
Wayne County's moderate climate is great for outdoor recreation, such as biking along the Natchez Trace Parkway. The Parkway has a bicycle-friendly route through multiple states and communities from Mississippi to Alabama to Tennessee. With no stoplights or billboards, the 52,000 acres of Trace celebrates 10,000 years of American history, culture and wildlife.
